The Colorado Council of Black Nurses, Inc., has several scholarships for high school through college students in under-represented populations who are interested in or are pursuing the Nursing profession at a secondary or postsecondary learning institution within the state of Colorado. Bernard F. Gipson Sr. Nurse Science Scholarship is available to students enrolled in a pre-nursing program including but not limited to high school health track, QMAP, and CNA, in a non-degreed nursing program such as LPN, or in the prerequisite stage of a Nursing degree at an accredited college or school of Nursing within the state of Colorado. Awards are from $50-$500.
Barbara Tunley Crenshaw Nursing Scholarship is available to students enrolled in an accredited ADN or BSN program in the state of Colorado. Awards are $1,000.
Introducing 2 New Scholarships for 2025
At the 2024 CCBN Scholarship Soiree and Annual Holiday Gathering, CCBN announced two new scholarships to address the need to support nurses in the aerospace and behavioral health arenas. Click the link to request to be considered for a scholarship. Extensions for the EXPANSE and PAS scholarships may be considered during the 2025 year.
Extraterrestrial and Planetary Aerospace Nursing and Space Education (EXPANSE) scholarships is an evolving series of scholarships for both students and professionals interested in studying or fostering the development of Space and Aerospace Nursing in its various presentations. The PAS Behavioral Health Scholarship for LPN’s and RN’s is a $1,000 scholarship award available to nurses and Nursing students focusing on behavioral health, including but not limited to practice or initiatives in trauma, mental health, substance use and abuse, recovery, holistic Nursing, wellness coaching, and JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion). Awards are $1,000.
Peer Assistance Services, Inc. (PAS) is a Colorado 501(c)(3) non-profit agency leading with prevention and intervention for substance use and mental health concerns, providing services to nurses with substance use, mental health, and related problems. A support network for nurses since 1984, PAS provides early identification, support, monitoring, and accountability, using the employee assistance model of service delivery, to protect public safety while offering help and healing for nurses through professional and peer support. DEADLINE
COMPLETED applications (including official transcripts and recommendations) must be entered online, emailed, or postmarked no later than 11:59 pm, July 1st yearly to scholarshipchair@ccbninc.org. With the exception of high school health track students, applications are reviewed from February to July, and interviews for applicant hopefuls for the ensuing year begin the second week of July.
Attendance at the annual Scholarship Award ceremony held yearly in October is required as a stipulation of award.
