WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:
The life of a Nursing student is often unpredictable between juggling classwork, clinical rotations, employment obligations, family obligations, and one's own health. Usually everything falls into place just in the nick of time - just not always in the way we expect. Such is the case here; however, conflicts will not prevent us from displaying Dayriana's academic and nursing journey successes. The work Dayriana has done to promote culturally competent care on the college level deserves recognition and her volunteer work in the college student life arena has earned her recognition by the Colorado Community College System. For her Scholar Project, Dayriana founded a peer mentoring program that was adopted by the Arapahoe Community College and she is in the process of instituting a peer mentor program for the Scholarship Program of the Colorado Council of Black Nurses Inc (CCBN) as well. Dayriana's assistance with translating Spanish during CCBN's COVID Disparities in Hispanic, Latinx and Indigenous Communities web event greatly contributed the bringing equitable health interventions to an underserved community. CCBN is honored to display Dayriana's successes.
