2021 CCBN Space Expo: Ages 11-14 years

Do you know that where you start doesn't define your future?

Sometimes we are made to believe that we don't have many choices in life and we have to "live with the hand we are dealt." The truth is, life is full of choices - some we like and some we don't like. Our choices don't define us, they are simply life lessons that help lead us on our journey to discover our best selves. Learning from your choices is what makes the world - and space - a better place to live in. Learn how today's featured presenters made choices that led them on different paths that currently have the important mission of helping to keep Earth, Space and the people who work and live in them alive and safe. Think about the choices you have made or are making and pick one you have learned or are learning from. How has what you learned helped you or those around you?

The video of this session will be posted on Friday

Lieutenant Colonel Michael Mariner

Ryan Kobrick PhD

Keeping US safe night and day...

Meet Lt. Col. Michael Mariner. United States Space Force

From humble beginnings to commanding in the US Air Force, Lt Col Mariner is proof that your beginnings do not define your future. Learn more about Lt Col Michael Mariner HERE

And you thought keeping your room clean is a hassle? Imagine managing dust in space!

Meet Ryan Kobrick, PhD. Paragon Space Development Corporation

Exposure to dust for long periods of time can lead to breathing problems and allergic reactions. It's a big problem here on Earth, especially at construction sites where new buildings are being built, but can be an even bigger danger in space to the crew and the equipment. Thanks to scientists like Dr. Kobrick, the impact of dust and other extreme conditions is less of a threat as they find solutions to help us manage our environment and protect our health. DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know the "A" in STEAM stands for art? Many scientists use art as a healthy way to let go of stress and rest parts of the brain. Life can be stressful but coloring or using these pages to make your art doesn't have to be. Let your imagination blast off. Have FUN and feel free to upload your favorite finished art piece so we can enjoy it too! Download the below coloring book to practice resting parts of your brain and letting go of stress. Anyone can upload the artwork they've made from this coloring book and have your finished piece of art shown for all of Colorado to see (no stress here!). We will showcase all (appropriate) artwork on Friday, October 1, 2021 on the CCBN Space Expo Channel. Special "THANKS!" to Annette Cannon PhD, RN for making this coloring book just for the CCBN Space Expo! Enjoy!

Friday!

Just like art is an important part of health, YOU are an important part of the future of mankind both on Earth and in space.
